Asymmetrical Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL)

Frame Relay, Private Intranet, Offices, network, Florida - Broadband

ADSL is an asymmetrical service, which means the downstream speed is more than the upload speed. ADSL line-share requires an existing phone line, as data and voice transit the line together and are separated once they reach the customer premise. ADSL line-share can be extended to remote areas and the service is ideal for the business with non-critical data needs or a restricted budget. Line-share ADSL is available in speeds up to 5Mbps x 640Kbps. Another type of ADSL, referred to as Dedicated ADSL, is delivered on it's own copper phone line, so no existing voice service needs to be in place for installation. Dedicated ADSL is only available in select markets and typically isn't supported by remote DSLAMS, limiting availability. However, Dedicated ADSL can go as fast as 15Mbps x 1Mbps when ADSL2+ is available in both the vendor equipment and supported by the client router.

ADSL Line-Share is available in the former nine-state Bellsouth territory (now AT&T southeast). This includes the States of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. Acceleration also interconnects with the line-share ADSL footprints of Embarq and Verizon, covering all their service area in Florida. Other line-share ADSL networks area available nationwide (such as the former SBC and most Qwest areas), but require manual pre-qualification to check availability.

Dedicated ADSL is available in most Tier 1 markets nationwide. Examples of available cities in Florida include Miami, Orlando, Tampa, and Jacksonville. Other Southeastern cities include Atlanta, Birmingham, Nashville, Memphis, Greensboro, Raleigh, and Charlotte. In the Northeast, just about every major city is covered from Boston, to Detroit, New York City and Washington D.C. In the Midwest there is New Orleans, Houston, Dallas, St. Louis, Chicago, and Denver among others. The West region includes Seattle, Portland, Sacramento, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Las Vegas, and Phoenix. This does not represent all the cities with Dedicated ADSL availability, but many of the major ones.

Symmetrical Digital Subscriber Line (SDSL)

SDSL is a symmetrical service, which means the upstream speed is the same as the downstream speed. Available in various speeds up to 2.3 Mbps, symmetrical lines are ideal for businesses looking for fractional T-1 speeds to support applications like Web hosting or sending large file attachments. ISDN Digital Subscriber Line (IDSL) is a symmetrical service that can deliver high-speed data communications up to 144 Kbps. With a greater distance capability, IDSL is ideal for businesses located slightly outside the reach of traditional SDSL and ADSL services.

Acceleration interconnects with the national SDSL networks of NewEdge Networks and Covad Communications, along with a few regional SDSL networks, providing an expansive network coverage (see network coverage map). In Florida, every Tier 1 and Tier 2 market is covered. Some examples are Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa, Miami, West Palm Beach, Daytona Beach, Lakeland, Fort Myers, Naples, Cape Coral, Gainesville, Ocala, Tallahassee, Panama City, and Pensacola (and others). Coverage is similar for many other States.

Contact Acceleration if you'd like to find out the available options in your area. We'll need a street address, city, zipcode, and current phone number to pre-qualify your location for all options.
